The plane that crashed in the middle of a service in California last month was a Pratt & Whitney C-130J Hercules that was flying for a commercial company.
It was the same aircraft that crashed during a demonstration flight in August, killing a former U.S. Air Force sergeant, a military official said.
The plane was used by the U.N. Refugee Agency in its relief efforts in South Sudan.
U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron said the plane was carrying humanitarian aid to the South Sudanese people.
“This is something that we are very grateful for, it’s a plane that was sent to South Sudan by the United Nations and it’s used to deliver humanitarian aid,” Cameron said.
He said it was the first time that a U.n. plane had been used for humanitarian aid in the area.
“It’s a very brave, brave mission, it was done to help those people,” he said.
